Actor Marimuthu directed the movie Kannum Kannum in 2008 and after about 6 years he also directed the movie Puli Vaal starring Vimal, Prasanna, Oviya, Ananya, Iniya. Before that, he worked as an assistant director to many leading tamil directors such as Mani Ratnam, Seeman, SJ Suryah and Vasanth. The Ethirneechal serial has brought him to the peak of fame recently.

Marimuthu has impressed a huge legion of fans, both male and female, with his brillaint performance and unique slang. His facial expression Aadhi Gunasekaran in a cunning and agressive body language with a trademark dialogue 'Indhaammaa Yei' created separate fanbase in Tamil Nadu. His death due to a sudden heart attack has caused a great shock among the fans.

He reportedly suffered a heart attack while dubbing. Due to chest pain during dubbing, he took the car himself and went to the hospital. It is said that he got collapsed while reaching a private hospital in Vadapalani, Chennai.

Marimuthu was last seen in Bhagwan Krishna's direction, in which the scene was set as Marimuthu's death. Marimuthu have taken a selfie with the fans standing in front of his own last tribute poster that was prepared for the scene. The selfie has now gone viral on social media. Even in the recently released Jailer movie starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, Marimuthu will be killed by villain Varman at the end.

In such a situation, it has been reported that Marimuthu's wife decided not to give up her Thaali which was tied by her husband Marimuthu. She said that she will always wear it as a chain around her neck in the memory of Marimuthu. She also mentioned that the Thaali will give the feel of her husband Marimuthu always being there with her. Fans are appreciating her bold decision.
