Ilayaraja Stirs Up Yet Another Controversy In Recent Interview, "People Who Say That I Have Ego Are..."

Music maestro Illayaraja has been making the headlines off late for wrong reasons. Recently, his condolence message for the demise of actor Mano Bala was slammed by fans who called him insensitive for talking about himself even while paying tribute to a late actor. Actor and filmmaker James Vasanth also slammed Illayaraja saying that the legendary singer was egoistical.

In a recent press meet, Illayaraja spoke about his experience in working with Thiyagarajan Kumaraja for the OTT anthology, Modern Love Chennai. During the press meet, he also addressed the issue where people call him egoistical. He said, "Don't think I'm keeping on talking about myself. But I can only speak from my point of you. You may call this egoistical. But people who say that I have ego are more egoistical than me. As long as I'm composing music, I don't care about anything."

About composing music, he said, "I never plan in advance for music. Once the director tells me about the scene, the music just clicks for me and they have also liked it. Thiagarajan Kumararaja is the 3rd generation director that I have worked with."

To recall, recently Illayaraja made the headlines when he offered his condolences to the late actor Manobala. After offering his condolences, Ilaiyaraja said, "Manobala is one of the directors who used to wait on the road where my car goes every day. He used to stand on the road just to meet me. He is among those directors who wanted to narrate their stories to me." Fans, who were not happy about the way Ilaiyaraja spoke about Manobala, slammed the music legend and called his comments insensitive.

Before Modern Love, Ilayaraja composed music for Vetri Maaran and Suri's recent movie, Viduthalai. The movie's first part was released earlier last month and the second part is yet to be released.
