Karthi returned to the big screen this Deepavali with Japan, a comedy heist drama written and directed by Raju Murugan. The movie which stars Anu Emmanuel as the female lead hit the screens on November 10 amid great expectations.
Japan went on to earn a mixed response after its theatrical release in Tamil and Telugu, worldwide. The action drama pinned high hopes on the festival weekend and earned a decent amount on the first two days.

Japan is a notorious thief who steals jewelry worth Rs 200 Crore at a store. This event kick-starts a cat-and-mouse chase between the cops and Japan.

On its opening day, Karthi's Japan is expected to earn about Rs 6 Crore from all languages and regions in India, according to Sacnilk with an occupancy ratio of 21.33% for the morning shows.
