Jigarthanda DoubleX Box Office Collection Day 2 Prediction: This Period Action Drama Pins Hopes On Weekend

Jigarthanda DoubleX, Karthik Subbaraj's latest experimental period action drama hit the screens for Diwali on November 10. The movie featuring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in the lead roles opened amid high expectations but has been receiving a cold response at the box office.

Jigarthanda DoubleX Premise

The movie is set in Madurai, in 1975. A gangster named Allius Ceaser, who looks very intimidating, aspires to become the first dark-skinned hero in the Tamil film industry and he eventually hires an aspiring director Ray Dasan, who was a former assistant director to Satyajit Ray. They together begin a movie titled Pandyaa.

Jigarthanda DoubleX Total Business

Going by the available information, including the promotional costs, the movie was made on a budget of about Rs 65 Crore. The movie made a worldwide pre-release business of Rs 36 Crore and the Telugu theatrical rights were sold for Rs 6 Crore. The movie can achieve break-even only after making a gross of Rs 70 Crore or Rs 36 Crore in share value.

The movie's trailer and promotional activities worked in favour of the film's release and the buzz was great. The advance ticket bookings for Jigarthanda DoubleX are also exciting. The movie hit the screens on over 1200 screens in Tamil Nadu alone and it was released on 500 screens in the two Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Shockingly, Jigarthanda DoubleX had registered fewer openings than Karthi's Japan. It is now looking forward to making the most out of the Diwali weekend.
