Kamal Haasan-Shankar's Much-Anticipated Sequel Indian 2 Cracks A Mammoth OTT Deal With Netflix; Deets Inside

Indian 2 is the much-hyped sequel in the making. Starring the Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in the role of epic Senapathy, the movie is being helmed by S Shankar.

The movie was announced as a sequel to the super successful 1996 film Indian. The movie was announced initially in 2017 and the principal photography kick-started from January 2019 in Chennai, Rajahmundry, and Bhopal. However, due to covid and multiple projects of the director and actor, the filming was stalled. There was also a fatal accident on the sets in which a few crew members died. Finally, post these hurdles and settlement of legal disputes, the filming resumed from August 2022.

S Shankar, who is helming Game Changer with RRR star Ram Charan with Karthik Subbaraju's story, is working on Indian 2 simultaneously.

Indian 2 Seals Massive OTT Deal

The movie which is in the production stage has hit a jackpot already in the form of its digital streaming rights. The filmmakers reportedly closed a humongous deal with OTT giant Netflix. The rights for all languages are sold for about Rs 200 Crore. However, there is no official confirmation from either side.

Indian 2 Cast

The highly-anticipated sequel stars Kamal Haasan reprising his role as Senapathy. In addition, the movie features an elaborate ensemble cast in the form of Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Nedumudi Venu, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Vennela Kishore, Deepa Shankar, Vinod Sagar, and George Maryan among others in key roles. Vivek and Manobala will appear in the film posthumously.

Indian 2 Crew

The sequel is bankrolled on a grand scale by Subaskaran Allirajah and Udhayanidhi Stalin under the Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies banners. The production cost is estimated to be around Rs 250 Crore. R Rathnavelu and Ravi Varman are cranking the camera for the film which has A Sreekar Prasad as its editor. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the film's entire background score and music.
