Thalapathy Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj's recent release Leo has taken over the box office with a storm. The action thriller has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year and also features Trisha Krishnan and Sanjay Dutt in the lead. And while Leo did create a substantial buzz in the town, it failed to win hearts and has opened to average reviews from the audience and critics.

However, owing the Leo's popularity it has managed to take over the box office like a giant tsunami with an opening day collection of Rs 64.8 crores For the uninitiated, Leo was released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. And while Leo is going strong across languages, it has managed to create history in Tamil Nadu.

Wondering what it is? Well, Leo has become the fastest movie to cross Rs 100 crore mark in Tamil Nadu. Yes! Leo has achieved the milestone within three days of release. After an impressive start, Leo has managed to rake in over Rs 111 crores in Tamil Nadu so far and is now inching towards Rs 150 crores in TN. Interestingly, Leo has managed to beat Ponniyin Selvan 1 which earlier held the record of crossing Rs 100 crores in 5 days of release. This isn't all. Leo has become Thalapathy Vijay's seventh consecutive Rs 100 crore grosseer in Tamil Nadu

Meanwhile, Leo is inching towards Rs 200 crores mark over all and is now standing at Rs 179.71 crores. Besides, it has also crossed Rs 400 crores at the worldwide box office and is still unstoppable. Earlier, talking about this much anticipated Thalapthy Vijay starrer action thriller, Lokesh Kanagraj said, "Leo is a very special film for me. I have tried something experimental. I have no words to describe the amount of work that Vijay anna put in for this movie. And I am eager to show everything to the audience".
