Leo Box Office: Producer Lalit Kumar's Demand For Higher Share Of Ticket Sales Angers Theatre Owners?

Leo Box Office

Leo Box Office: Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil action thriller movie "Leo" was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. Directed by Lokesh Kanakaraj, the movie was released worldwide on Friday, October 19, amid gigantic excitement among devoted fans of Vijay.

There were reports circulating that the film's screenings would happen as early as 4 AM, but the Tamil Nadu High Court ordered a release for 7 am following the Rohini theatre ruckus. And now, it is being reported that 'Leo' is facing difficulties retaining good box office numbers due to falling bookings.

Fans are unable to book Leo tickets

Leo marked the second collaboration between Lokesh and Vijay. The film has grossed over 200 crore in just three days. Looking at its trajectory, the film is surely going to create records at the box office. However, as per the latest development, fans are quite dissatisfied because they were unable to book tickets for Leo.

Several fans complained that while Leo tickets were open for a few moments at midnight, they soon disappeared. There are reports that corporate companies are booking Leo tickets and selling them at a higher price. Meanwhile, fans are struggling to get tickets.

On the other hand, a few popular theatres in Tamil Nadu, like Rohini and Vetri, have decided not to screen Leo, leading to speculation that Leo's box office collection in the coming days might get severely affected as the theatre screening numbers as compared to other states are lower in TN.

Leo producer Lalit Kumar demanding higher profits

Another controversy surrounding Leo's box office fate is that the film's producer, Lalit Kumar, has demanded a massive 80 percent share of the ticket sales, which is the reason for theatres to halt the bookings. Although many theatre owners have agreed to 70 to 75 percent of the profit share, the rest are said to be irked.

Lalit Kumar, on the other hand, has claimed in a new interview that "Leo" won't be able to make 1000 crore, mainly because the film didn't get a grand opening in the Hindi belt. It now remains to be seen whether, with several obstacles and a battle with the state government, Leo will be able to make sizable earrings.

About Leo

Besides Vijay, Leo also features Sanjay Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, and Arjun Sarja. Dutt makes his Kollywood debut. The film revolves around a simple man who fights to save his family while dealing with his past violent life.
