The film has got below average response at the box office. Many CSK fans who came to the theatres just for their hope on Dhoni returned home with great disappointment. DD Returns starring Santhanam is clearly mentioned as the winner among all the Tamil films that were released yesterday.

Those who watched the film in special media premiere last night shared their opinion on social media. One of them said, "Okiesh First half followed by an below average second half !! Good Concept.... but failed in execution. Son & Mother chemistry b/w Harish Kalyan & Nadiya's was good. Songs & BGM didn't support, YogiBabu's comedy doesn't work."

Another netizen said, "A romcom drama from Harish Kalyan. Film's main plot is too short and weak, that's the biggest issue. Neat performance from all. Hardly a few comedies are working. Boring 1st half and the whole 2nd half is pointless. Headache!!!."

Fans are expressing their opinion that MS Dhoni should use his captaincy skills to form a good team for listening the scripts so that he can win big at Kollywood next time.
