Lip Lock Scene? Senior Actress Recalls Why She Opted Out Of Kamal Haasan’s Punnagai Mannan

Senior Actress Jayashree is one of the top stars back in the day. She has starred alongside almost all leading actors of that time and her roles were also extremely popular. She took a sabbatical from acting after her marriage and she gave a come-back to the big screens with the recent movie, Manal Kayiru 2.

Speaking in an interview, she recalled several things from her past and also revealed that she opted out of a Kamal Haasan movie. She said, "I was supposed to act in Kamal Haasan's Punnagai Mannan but I couldn't take up the opportunity. It was not because of the presence of a lip lock scene. But I opted out due to personal reasons."

She also recalled how she entered the entertainment industry. "I come from an entertainment background. My grandmom is a singer and an actress. When I was offered a role to play in movies, I was hesitant and initially denied the offer. Later, my parents convinced me and asked me to give it a try. So, I explored the opportunity and I liked the experience too. So, I continued acting in movies."

She added that Rajinikanth once even asked her why she hasn't acted alongside him. "It was during the shooting of Chandramukhi when I met Rajini sir on the sets. He pulled my legs saying that I wouldn't act with him. It was a very joyful moment."

Jayashree made her debut in 1985 with the movie Thendrale Ennai Thodu directed by Sreedhar. She said that she was in the final year of her college when she got the opportunity to act in the movie. She said that she was initially hesitant to take up the opportunity but eventually took it up as her parents and director Sreedhar convinced her.
