Maamannan is a political thriller written and directed by Mari Selvaraj. The movie is assumably the last of actor-producer-turned-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin, as he bid goodbye to films.

The movie which stars an ensemble cast released on the screens worldwide on June 29 to a mixed response from the critics.

Against a budget of Rs 35 Crore, the movie made about Rs 62 Crore at the box office so far. AR Rahman composed the film's extraordinary background score and music.

Maamannan Story

The movie is about an MLA, belonging to the oppressed community and rising from being a party cadre in Salem. His son Veera is emotionally and physically scared due to the casteist attack. Rathanvelu is in the same party as Maamannam but is from the dominant community. They both are always at loggerheads. One day, Maamannan and Veera turn from pawns to players.

According to the available update, the movie will hit the digital streaming platform Netflix on July 27. The movie will be available in all five major Indian languages through subtitles.
