Madonne Ashwin is a close friend of director Lokesh Kanagaraj. He entered the film industry by making short films without being an assistant director. He directed Mandela with Yogi Babu as his first film. The film, which was made in the political satire genre, received great response and won the National Award.

After the huge success of Mandela, he directed the second film Maaveeran with Sivakarthikeyan. The film was released on the July 14th. Along with Sivakarthikeyan, Mysskin, Saritha, Yogi Babu, Aditi Shankar and others acted. The film was made in the fantasy genre and was well received by the fans. Many appreciated Sivakarthikeyan's performance in the film.

Apart from the response from movie buffs and film critics, the film has also received a good response at the box office. Accordingly, the film team officially announced yesterday that Maveeran has collected 75 crore rupees worldwide so far. SK fans are also hoping that Maaveeran will soon join the 100 crore club just like his previous films Doctor and Don.
