Here's what Rekha did to make him stop smoking:
He said in the interview, "When I was at my peak as a director, I used to smoke 200 cigarettes per day. It was so mad and it badly damaged my health. People used to call me chimney because I was smoking all the time. Hindi star Rekha once tried to make me stop smoking. She tied some pan pockets and tied them around my neck and asked me to use that as an ashtray so that I would see how many cigarettes I actually smoke."
"After it got worse, I went to the doctor and I was told that even if I smoked one more cigerette, that would be my last day. I eventually stopped smoking cigarettes. But it was too late and I still spend a lot for the treatments. I spent all the money that I earned from my Hollywood movie for my treatment. It costed me around Rs. 10 lakhs," Manobala said.
He added that he has been spreading awareness about the effects of smoking as he did not wat anyone to suffer whatever he underwent.
