Meena Talks About Her Reaction To Kiss Scene With Kamal Haasan, Says 'I Cried & Ran To My Mother In Caravan..'

Meena is one of the most celebrated actresses in the South-Indian film industry. She has a career of over 40 years and was a reigning queen of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films apart from Hindi.

The recipient of several Filmfare, State Film, Nandi, and Kalaimamani Awards, Meena is half Telugu and half Malayalee. But she was born and brought up in Chennai. Meena began her acting career in 1982 as a child artist when she was 6 years.

Recently, in an interview, Meena recalled her experience of working with legendary, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in Avvai Shanmugi. She was talking about the infamous kiss clause of Kamal Haasan in all his films.

Spilling beans on the same, Meena was quoted saying, "When I first signed the film Avvai Shanmugi, I know there will be a kissing scene in every Kamal Haasan movie. But when the director KS Ravi Kumar informed me about shooting a kiss scene on that day, I grew anxious. I ran into my caravan and told my mother about it. I almost cried. But, when it was finally time to shoot, Kamal Haasan slowly came by my side as if he was giving a kiss and told me that there will be no kiss scene. I still remember jumping with joy at that moment," added Meena.

Avvai Shanmugi is an adaptation of the American Mrs Doubtfire, which was made in the year 1993. The film also features the late Gemini Ganesan, Nagesh, Manivannan, Nassar, SP Balasubrahmanyam, Crazy Mohan, Ramesh Arvind, Kanal Kannan, Peter Hein, KS Ravi Kumar, Delhi Ganesh, Heera, Rani among others in key roles.

Meena is continuing to act in her second innings and recently celebrated her 40 years in the film industry. Her late husband Vidyasagar, a Bengaluru-based software engineer died on June 28, 2022, due to lung failure.

Meena and her daughter Nainika are active on social media platforms and often share pictures from their recent photoshoots.

The actress was seen in Organic Mama and Hybrid Alludu movies as Shakuntala. She will be next seen in a Tamil film titled Rowdy Baby. She is also participating as a Judge in Ente Amma Supera, a Malayalam show.
