Legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam finally realized one of his life's goals with Ponniyin Selvan. The visionary dreamt of making the cult and renowned epic novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy, titled 'Ponniyin Selvan' into a movie for several decades.

With the right team coming on board and the timing, the movie finally happened and was released in two parts. Ponniyin Selvan 2 hit the screens on April 28 to a huge positive response at the theatres. The movie which stars an ensemble cast was released in five major languages.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 Story

Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's literary work by the same name, Ponniyin Selvan charts the journey of the Chola King Arunmozhi Varman, who later on was remembered as the Raja Raja Chola. The first part dealt with the introduction of the key characters and how Arunmozhi Varman is saved by a mysterious woman named 'Vooma Rani.'

The sequel will unfold events as Arunmozhi Varman continues on his journey to become the King; Nandini's plan to avenge Aditya Karikalan, the backstory of Vooma Rani, etc.

The movie is adapted from the novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The novel was converted into a screenplay by director Mani Ratnam along with B Jeyamohan and Elango Kumaravel. The dialogues are penned by B Jeyamohan in Tamil and Tanikella Bharani in Telugu.
