Ponniyin Selvan 2 OTT Date & Time: Amazon Prime Video Secures Rights; Magnum Opus To Start Streaming From.....

Ponniyin Selvan 2 opened across theatres all over the world on April 28 in five languages. The movie, which came six months after the first chapter was released, is a befitting sequel, opine fans.

Director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, based on the literary work of Kalki Krishnamurthy's novel of the same name, Ponniyin Selvan, is a dream project for Mani Ratnam. He had been thinking of making this novel into a film for several decades and materialized it in 2019.

With Subaskaran Allirajah of Lyca Productions coming on board, the epic Ponniyin Selvan was made in two parts. However, the shooting of two parts of Ponniyin Selvan was completed before the first part was released. The movie was made on a budget of Rs 500 Crore and emerged as the highest-grosser in Tamil Nadu.

With Ponniyin Selvan 2 getting raving reviews for the performances, narration, music, and technical brilliance, the movie is expected to surpass the collections of its first part.

Ponniyin Selvan On Amazon Prime Video

One of the digital OTT giants Amazon Prime Video has secured rights to the movie as it did for its first chapter. With so much positivity pouring in for PS 2, the movie might not be able to hit the digital space until about five weeks after its theatrical release. In all likelihood, the movie might hit the streaming platform by the second or third week of June. The official announcement is awaited.

The movie stars Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakshraj, Parthiban, Rahman, and Lal among others in pivotal characters.

The movie is adapted from the novel of the same name, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The novel was converted into a screenplay by director Mani Ratnam along with B Jeyamohan and Elango Kumaravel. The dialogues for the film are penned by B Jeyamohan in Tamil, and Tanikella Bharani in Telugu.
