Director Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 that makes Adhitha Karikalan's murder to look like a suicide has caused shock and controversy.

In the history of mankind, from the time when governments and kings were formed, palace conspiracies and palace massacres are found in all regions. One of these is the assassination of Adhitha Karikalan, one of the later Cholas.

As Sundara Chola's 3 children were growing up, Madhuranthagan, the son of Kandarathitha, was also growing up. Due to this, the idea of Chola government was presented to Madhurandhagan and a conspiracy took place.

On the other hand, Sundara Chola's eldest son, Adhitha Karikalan, cut off the head of the Pandya king Veerapandiya and annihilated the empire (Source: Aanaimangala Seppedu). Due to this, Pandyas make a strategy to defeat Adhitha Karikalan.

Nandini, whom Adhitha Karikalan loved in his youth, is driven away from the Chola country and takes refuge with Pandyan Veerapandyan. Aditha Karigalan cut off the head of Pandyan Veerapandian before Nandini. Nandini became the queen of Paluvur by impressing the Chola prince Periya Paluvettaraiyar. Nandini also hatches a conspiracy in the Kadampur Maaligai to defeat Adhitha Karikalan.
