R S Shivaji Passes Away, Popular Tamil Comedian Known For His Collaboration With Kamal Haasan Dies At 66
R S Shivaji Death: Poplar comedian and character actor R. S. Shivaji, who predominantly worked in Tamil cinema, passed away in Chennai on Saturday morning, September 2. He was born in 1956 in Chennai and was 66 years old.
He is known for his collaborations with superstar Kamal Haasan and his production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, on multiple movies. He had also worked as an assistant director, sound designer, and line producer for many Tamil projects.

Renowned actor R. S. Shivaji, who worked in many Tamil movies, breathed his last on Saturday, September 1, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was 66 and had an illustrious career in Kollywood. He was recently seen in Yogi Babu-starrer Luckyman, which was released on Friday, September 1.
Coming from a filmy background, R. S. Shivaji was born to actor and producer M.R. Santhanam, whose work includes Ellis R. Dungan's Meera (1945). His brother, Santhana Bharathi, is also a popular actor and film director.
R. S. Shivaji has left behind a lasting legacy spanning over four decades and has given some memorable roles in movies such as Apoorva Sagodharargal, Kolamavu Kokila, and Dharala Prabhu. He began his career in the 1980s and went on to collaborate with Kamal Haasan on many projects likeChachi 420 (1997), Pammal K. Sambandam (2002), Anbe Sivam (2003), and Unnaipol Oruvan (2009).
In his later career, Shivaji worked in movies like Gargi, God Father, Soorarai Pottru (2020), Maara, Vanakkam Da Mappilei (2021), and more.
He has also been part of television shows like Kula Vilakku, Ethanai Konam Ethanai Paarvai, and Anbulla Snehidhiye. He has also done a web series titled Time Enna Boss.
Trade analyst Ramesh Baal took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and paid his condolences. He wrote, "Popular Tamil Character/Comedy Actor #RSShivaji passed away in Chennai this morning.
