However, last month, he made headlines for a different reason when the Tamil Nadu Wildlife Crime Control Bureau imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh on him for keeping two Alexandrine parakeets at his Chennai residence. The birds were spotted in videos uploaded by the actor's family on social media, and after a complaint was filed, authorities inspected Shankar's residence and seized the birds, as they are protected under Schedule IV of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
