Highest-Gross Openings Of South-Indian Films 2023 Worldwide: The Indian film industry is winning the world with its unique content and improvised cinematic expertise with every film that they are making. The phenomenal actors have been becoming global stars and well-known worldwide with their multi-crore box office records.

The year 2023 has come to an end and it was very sweet for the four south-Indian film industries. The Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam film industries produced several remarkable films which went on to shatter worldwide box office records thereby minting money and winning love from film buffs and critics.

As many as five films have earned more than Rs 100 Crore and there are about 12 films that earned over Rs 50 Crore in India as openings. Four out of ten mega-budget, star-studded films are from the Tamil and Telugu film industries. Here is a small detail about the highest-grossing south-Indian films below.

Salaar Part 1-Ceasefire- Rs 167 Crore +

Prabhas' latest mass action thriller written and directed by Prashanth Neel is taking the world box office by storm. The movie which was released in five languages on December 22 is winning acclaim and is said to have put Prabhas back in his success track. Needless to say, the movie made a staggering Rs 167 Crore on the opening day.

Leo- Rs 146.15 Crore

Thalapathy Vijay joined hands with Lokesh Kanagaraj for a remarkable film that is called Leo. The movie was a phenomenon when it was released but the movie met a thunderous response besides getting mixed reactions. The film created a sensation. The opening day collection was a whopping Rs 146.15 Crore.

Jailer- Rs 91.20 Crore

Superstar Rajinikanth's latest action drama Jailer, written and directed by Nelson went on to become a massive blockbuster, surprising the makers as well. The movie opened to a massive amount of Rs 91.20 Crore on its release day.

Ponniyin Selvan 2- Rs 59.12 Crore

Mani Ratnam's much-hyped venture to date, Ponniyin Selvan 2, a star-studded mega film enjoyed the biggest success it deserved. The movie's sequel is a bigger success than its first part. Owing to the hype around it, the movie made about Rs 59.12 Crore in its opening collection.

In addition, films like Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, which are helmed by and contain south-Indian actors and technicians also earned over Rs 100 Crore on the release day, globally.

Veera Simha Reddy- Rs 50.10 Crore

Nandamuri Balakrishna continued his success streak this year too. The veteran of Tollywood started conquering the box office with his Sankranthi release Veera Simha Reddy. The movie in which he played a dual role and had Shruti Haasan as the female lead marked one of the biggest films of his career. It earned about Rs 50.10 Crore on day one.

Waltair Veerayya- Rs 49.10 Crore

Megastar Chiranjeevi delivered his career's best film in terms of collections and range with director Bobby Kolli's mass action entertainer titled Waltair Veerayya. Shruti Haasan and Massraja Ravi Teja played key roles in the film which was released for Sankranthi 2023.

BRO- Rs 48.50 Crore

This Pawan Kalyan-Sai Dharam Tej's movie is a remake of Vinodhaya Sitham, a Tamil film helmed by Samuthirakani. The movie is directed by Samuthirakani himself and the movie made a decent number despite mixed reactions from the viewers and fans.
