The south-Indian industry has made an epic place for itself in the world cinema with a series of global blockbusters. The films, filmmakers, and the actors from the southern part of the country are making the country and its people proud with their continuing achievements.

Many movies had become successful beyond expectations and made more than Rs 1000 Crore at the world's box office. Here are the hand-picked films which the southern film industry are proud to have made; secured more than Rs 500 Crore at the box office worldwide.

Baahubali 2 and Baahubali 1

Prabhas became pan-India star after the humongous success of Baahubali 1 & 2, written and directed by SS Rajamouli. The movie which stars Anushka Shetty, and Rana Daggubati in key roles. The first part was a sensation back then and when the sequel release, it just made a record in the history of Indian cinema.

RRR

SS Rajamouli delivered another blockbuster, an epic like RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The movie won the prestigious Oscar Award for the popular 'Naatu Naatu' song. However, the collection couldn't surpass the record set by Rajamouli's earlier film Baahubali 2.

KGF Chapter 2

Kannada superstar Yash became one of the national icons with his portrayal of Rocky Bhai in Prashanth Neel's directorial action thriller KGF 1 and KGF 2. The sequel was even bigger success than Chapter 1, making KGF 2 one of the highest grossers in the Indian film industry.

2 Point O

Superstar Rajinikanth's Enthiran(Robo)'s sequel written and directed by Shankar Shanmugam is one of the industry's all-time success. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar played the antagonist's role in the film.

Jailer

Superstar Rajinikanth's latest release titled Jailer, a dark comedy-thriller written and directed by Nelson is now on a rampage at the box office in and outside India. The movie is minting crazy money. Rajinikanth played the role of a calm yet brutal retired Jailer Muthuvel Pandian in the film.

Ponniyin Selvan 1

Mani Ratnam's magnum opus film, an epic literary tale of the Great Cholas, Ponniyin Selvan 1, was one of the films to have re-written the records in Kollywood. Starring an ensemble cast, the movie is a special film for the people of Tamil Nadu, and Mani Ratnam rightly delivered the same albeit handling a periodic drama as such, for the first time.
