It is noteworthy that SS Chandhran has not only worked as an actor in Tamil film industry but also produced films such as Engal Kural, Purushan Enakku Arasan. He did not leave direction department too. Pombala Siricha Pochu is the film directed and produced by SS Chandhran.

All the films that SS Chandran acted in in his early days gave him the much needed identity to his film career. Mainly, the movies with Superstar Rajinikanth in which he acted such as Uzhaippaali and Mappillai were well received among the masses.

After that, he acted in films like Vishnu, Oncemore, Pudhumaipitthan, Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar, Manam Virumbuthe, Kaakkai Siraginile and Thirunelveli. It is reported that actor SS Chandhran has acted in more than 700 films.

He is married and has a son named Rohith, who has also become a film actor. The film titled Oru Murai Solli Vidu, in which Rohith acted as a Hero, has unfortunately became the last film for SS Chandhran as an actor. The film was directed by A Jawahar and music composed by Bharadwaj. Along with SS Chandran, Janapriya, Yugendran and Radha Ravi also played prominent roles in the film. Kamakshi Amman Creations produced the film.

Rohith had earlier tried to make his debut through the film titled Royal Family in 2001. Then he again made efforts to give an entry through the film Kolagalam in 2003, but both the films were dropped.

Apart from his acting skills, SS Chandhran was also known as a political speaker. He has also worked as a dubbing artist for a few movies such as Devaraagam and Shanmuga Pandian. SS Chandhran passed away in 2010 due to heart attack.
