Thalaivar 171 Update: Superstar Rajinikanth's Entertainer Will Be Helmed By Lokesh Kanagaraj; Official Now

The Thalaivar of the south-Indian film industry, superstar Rajinikanth is on a roll. The veteran actor enthralled his fans with his surprise package in the recently released action entertainer Jailer. The movie is a trendsetter, a record-maker, and a benchmark altogether.

Written and directed by Nelson, Jailer is continuing a decent theatrical run even after its digital streaming debut. Meanwhile, the superstar's upcoming films are gaining momentum and interest among the industry circles and his fans.

The veteran signed two films- one with Jai Bhim fame TG Gnanavel, referred to as Thalaivar 170. While there are high expectations for the film as two talent powerhouses are coming together, Anirudh Ravichander's addition to the project has amplified them.

Thalaivar 171 Officially Launched

Thalaivar 171 was in the headlines recently for rumours about writer-director Lokesh Kanagaraj's exit. It was reported that Vikram's director envisioned something along the lines of Muthuvel Pandian's character for Rajinikanth in his film, earlier. Since Jailer has already come out; becoming the Thalaivar's career's best yet, Loki had revised his decision.

However, putting an end to the rumours around Thalaivar 171, the Sun Pictures banner helmed by Kalanithi Maran officially announced the launch of the project on September 11.

This time again, the wonderful trio of Rajinikanth, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and the sensational Anirudh Ravichander are collaborating for yet another epic fan fest, going by the launch poster of the film. Lokesh will be coming together with his staple crew like Anirudh for music and Anbariv for action choreography. Fans couldn't wait for this film to go on the sets shortly.

The other details about the remaining cast and crew of Thalaivar 171 will be announced once the pre-production works kick-start. Lokesh is expected to begin working on this project once he winds up Thalapathy Vijay's most prestigious flick to date, LEO. Leo will hit the screens worldwide on October 19.
