Thalapathy Vijay is an actor who enjoys a crazy fan following in Tamil Nadu. The Varisu actor, who hit the headlines for honouring the meritorious students under his foundation. The event took place on June 17, in Neelankari, Chennai.
During the event, Vijay spent time with about 1500 students and gave away appreciation certificates and mementos to the performing students. To a student named Nandini, for securing cent percent of marks in her Intermediate, the actor gifted a diamond necklace.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay made some interesting remarks about politics. He told the students not to vote for cash and always choose a good leader. According to a report in TOI, the event is kind of a soft launch of Vijay into politics. It is assumed as his foray into active politics and subsequent plans for the 2026 elections. He urged the students to read about political leaders like BR Ambedkar, Dravida Kazhagam founder Periyar EV Ramasamy, Congress leader K Kamaraj, etc.
"You are tomorrow's voters. You are going to elect good leaders. While we vote with our fingers, we also poke our eyes with the same fingers when we take cash for votes. Ask your parents not to accept cash for votes. When you say, it will happen, I have confidence in you because you all are going to be first-time voters. Your education process is completed only when it happens," said Vijay.

The actor also threw a surprise to his fans by announcing his next, allegedly his last film with director Venkat Prabhu. Referred to as Thalapathy 68, the movie is rumoured to be titled after the IPL team of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Official confirmation of the same is awaited.
