Veteran actress V Vasantha, who played mother characters in the Tamil films of the 1980s, died on May 19 in Chennai. The actress was 82 years old and succumbed to age-related issues.

V Vasantha was popular for playing the role of superstar Rajinikanth's mother in 'Ranuva Veeran' and also Sridevi's mother in 'Moondram Pirai.' The Tamil film industry poured in condolences messages for the veteran after the news of her death broke out.
