As
the
2023
Dakshin
Conference
started
today
in
Chennai,
Vetrimaaran,
who
participated
in
it,
spoke
about
the
development
of
the
South
Indian
film
industry.
The
Dakshin
Conference
is
held
to
provide
future
generations
with
relevant
guidance
for
the
South
Indian
media
and
entertainment
industry.
In
that
way,
the
Dakshin
Conference
for
the
year
2023
is
starting
today
in
Chennai.
Minister
Udhayanidhi
Stalin,
directors
Vetrimaaran
and
Rishabh
Shetty
were
present
at
the
inauguration
ceremony.
In
this
conference,
Vetrimaaran
said,
"Say
that
art
has
no
language,
no
borders.
But
art
certainly
has
language,
culture
and
boundaries,
but
those
who
consume
art
do
not
have
those
boundaries.
Art
passes
away
when
it
operates
within
its
boundaries.
This
is
what
happened
during
the
Corona
lockdown.
All
of
us
are
stuck
at
home.
When
we
didn't
know
what
to
do,
we
started
watching
all
kinds
of
movies
from
all
the
OTT
sites.
This
gave
common
man
a
place
to
watch
and
understand
different
types
of
cinema.
After
the
lockdown,
the
habit
of
going
to
the
theater
and
watching
movies
has
started
to
change.
The
reason
why
movies
like
Kanthara,
KGF,
RRR
are
successful
across
India
is
because
they
are
all
films
made
for
that
particular
people,
their
culture,
their
actors
and
their
style.
So
they
have
global
reach.
We
tell
our
stories.
But
the
feeling
for
it
reaches
across
borders.
Getting
an
Oscar
Award
is
not
a
big
deal.
It
is
important
to
make
mainstream
cinema
and
win
Oscars.
I
see
it
as
a
revolution
if
a
film
for
our
people,
a
film
we
celebrate,
is
taken
to
the
Oscars
and
accepted
by
them.
I
saw
the
short
film
'The
Elephant
Whisperers'
and
I
was
very
impressed.
The
emotion
shown
in
it
was
fantastic.
If
South
Indian
films
have
had
a
huge
impact
on
Indian
cinema,
it
is
because
we
are
telling
our
stories
for
our
people.
The
reason
for
our
development
is
that
we
make
films
of
our
identity,
our
individuality
and
our
pride.
I
hope
the
situation
will
continue.The
rest
of
the
film
industry
is
not
following
it
and
they
are
facing
setbacks."
