Vignesh Shivan: 'When Nayan Says Uyir Or Ulagam, I See If She's Calling Me; We Address Each Other The Same'

Vignesh Shivan, the multi-talented Kollywood director is currently spending time with his wife Nayanthara, and two sons. The couple is in a happy space personally as they got officially married and welcomed twins into their lives.

Vignesh Shivan is one of the new-age Kollywood filmmakers. The writer-producer-lyricist-director has come up with Kaathuvakula Rendu Kaadhal featuring Samantha, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi, which was met with a mixed response at the box office.

However, Vignesh's next, which was supposed to be with Ajith Kumar got shelved due to various reasons. Meanwhile, the couple's Rowdy Pictures banner has been active in producing content. They have taken up projects of various genres under the production.

Recently, in an interview with actress-producer-director Suhasini Maniratnam, the youngster was seen talking at length about his personal and professional life. From how he floored Nayanthara to his upcoming films and lesser known friendship with Simbu, Vignesh was seen spilling so much information.

For Galatta Tamil's exclusive talk show titled Game Changers With Suhasini Maniratnam, Vignesh revealed the reason behind naming their sons as Uyir and Ulagam. He elaborated, "I used to call Nayanthara as Uyir and Ulagam frequently and vice versa. When I call out Ulag, Nayan responds. So when we wanted to name our kids, we went right ahead with these two names."

Moreover, it is entirely our wish and nobody can question about what we should name or why we chose to name that particular name for our kids. Since Nayanthara has Bengali origins, Rudhro is a mix of Tamil and Bengali, which means Shiva. The N stands for Nayanthara and Shivan is followed, added Vignesh Shivan.

In the talk show he also mentioned that he and Simbu are classmates at the Santhome school and Simbu was the first person to encourage him when he wanted to enter the film industry.

Vignesh also shared his experience of meeting Shah Rukh Khan, said he was floored by his humbleness. Stating another incident, "Suriya sir is somebody I love. 'Thaanaa Serndha Koottam' wasn't a blockbuster hit but he gifted me a car."

Meanwhile, fans of Vignesh Shivan started pouring in positive messages for him. They appreciated his honesty, attitude, and demeanor. A few of his female fans have mentioned Nayanthara's name and said she is lukcy to have a partner like Vignesh.

Vignesh & Nayanthara first met during 'Naanum Rowday Dhaan' in 2015, Vignesh's second directorial. They started dating immediately and later moved in together. Although the duo registered their marriage six years ago legally, they got married in a lavish set-up in 2022.

After his project with Ajith Kumar got shelved, Vignesh is now concentrating on making a film under his production banner. He is also producing a Gujarati film which is up for theatrical release very soon.
