Amaran Box Office Collection Day 1 (Early Updates): The Tamil-language biographical action war film 'Amaran' is one of the highly-anticipated releases of the year. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and jointly produced by Kamal Haasan-led Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films India, Amaran had its much-awaited grand theatrical release today, October 31, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.

Headlined by Sivakarthikeyan, Amaran is based on Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book series titled 'India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes'. Featuring Sivakarthikeyan as Major Mukund 'Maddy' Varadarajan, the Tamil film stars Sai Pallavi as the leading lady 'Indhu Rebecca Varghese', Mukund's wife. The book series chronicles Major Mukund's life, his bravery and sacrifice.
The official synopsis of the film reads, "A true-life story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a commissioned officer in the Indian Armys Rajput Regiment, who was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his valor during a counterterrorism operation while on deputation to the 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Jammu and Kashmir."
The film also stars Bhuvan Arora as Sepoy Vikram Singh, Rahul Bose as Colonel Amit Singh Dabas (Mukund's Commanding Officer), Lallu as Ravi Shankar, Shreekumar as Michael, Shyam Mohan as Indhu's brother, and Geetha Kailasam as Mukund's mother, Geetha Varadarajan among others in important roles.
