Director Mohan G. Arrested: Filmmaker Mohan G, aka Mohan G Kshatriyan, was arrested by Tamil Nadu police in Chennai on September 24. The director is known for films like 'Pazhaya Vannarapettai', 'Thandavam', 'Draupathi,' 'Rudra Thandavam,' and 'Bakasuran.' He was taken into custody from Kasimedu's house in Chennai.
According to the information on Asianet News Tamil, the director's arrest was prompted by a reason that was not disclosed so far. BJP State Secretary Aswathaman, Mohan's friend posted that Mohan was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police without information. His family was also not informed about why he was arrested, on what grounds, and where he was being held. This is against the order of the Supreme Court.
He also opined that under the DMK's rule, illegal arrests of dissidents have become rampant and the Dravidian model of police which couldn't control smuggling is only focused on these arrests.
Reason For Arrest
Reportedly, the report on Asianet states that Mohan G was told to mix contraceptive pills in the Palani Panchamirtam video recording and he was arrested for it. The details about his arrest are awaited, however.
Mohan G began his Kollywood career as a filmmaker in 2016 with 'Pazhaya Vannarapettai.' His next film was 'Draupathi' in 2020. The movie Draupathi had no producers and Mohan had to go the crowdfunding way as the movie had a controversial subject. His latest film starring Selvaraghavan and Natty 'Bakasuran' earned critical acclaim although the movie's box office performance was not up to the mark. In addition, Tollywood producer Bellamkonda Suresh reportedly approached Mohan to direct the Telugu remake of Bakasuran.
Mohan G's upcoming film has Richard Rishi as the protagonist again, marking their third collaboration. More information on the events leading to his arrest will be reported shortly. Stay tuned to this page.
