Coolie Filming Begins: The highly-awaited movie of Thalaivar superstar Rajinikanth titled 'Coolie,' written and directed by the maverick filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj finally goes on the sets. The filming began in Hyderabad on July 5.

Rajinikanth, who flew down to Hyderabad in a private jet was joined by his dear friend, actor-producer-businessman Manchu Mohan Babu on the occasion. Not only did the latter spent a great time meeting up with him but also invited him to his house during his stay in Hyderabad.

The 73-year-old veteran will be shooting for Coolie, a period gangster actioner film in Hyderabad for a month at the Film City. The unit will then move to Chennai to shoot the major portion of the film in specially erected sets.

Coolie is also referred to as Thalaivar 171 and marks the first epic collaboration of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Sivakarthikeyan is reportedly going to play a key role in the movie along with Shruti Haasan and Fahadh Faasil.

After a long time and playing the kind of character that Nelson tailored for Rajinikanth in 'Jailer,' Tamil Nadu's highest-grosser to date, the character in Coolie is going to possess dual shade, in a typical Lokesh Kanagaraj style. Fans of the superstar are excited for Coolie as the first look video from the movie enthralled them big time, showcasing the vintage Rajinikanth mouthing terrific dialogues.Produced by Kalanithi Maran on a whopping budget under his Sun Pictures banner, which also bankrolled Jailer, Coolie's shooting work update was shared by the production house via their official social media handle. Girish Gangadharan will be working as the cinematographer for the film and as usual, Anirudh Ravichander is the film's music composer. Anbariv will work as the action choreographer. The other details of the cast and crew will be revealed shortly.
