Bhavatharini Death: Bhavatharini, daughter of veteran music composer Ilaiyaraaja, passed away on Thursday (January 25) in Sri Lanka due to cancer.

The Tamil singer and music composer, who sang songs composed by her father and brother, was receiving Ayurvedic treatment for cancer. The news of her demise has sent shock waves across the Tamil film and television industry.

Music maestro Ilaiyaraaja's daughter and playback singer Bhavatharini Raja died of cancer on January 25 in Sri Lanka. She was 47. The time of her death is reported to be around 5.20 pm in Sri Lanka.

According to reports, her body will be transported to Chennai tomorrow, January 26, for the final rites. She is survived by her husband. Reportedly, she was undergoing Ayurvedic therapy for five months in Sri Lanka, but there was no improvement in her health, and sadly, she passed away today.

Her untimely death has sent shockwaves through the entire entertainment and music industry, while fans have taken to social media to pay their heartfelt tribute to the late singer.

Soon, fans took to X and paid their final tribute to Bhavatharini. One wrote, "Oh my god. Very saddened to hear her sudden demise. May her soul rest in peace. Heartly condolences to her family." Another added, "Om Shanti."

One said, "Very shocking RIP." A third commented, "So sad, may her soul rest in peace."

About Bhavatharini Raja

Bhavatharini Raja was a prominent figure in the Tamil music industry. She has contributed her voice to numerous popular songs in over 30 films and started her career as a singer with the film Raasaiya, starring Prabu Deva and Roja.

Her song turned out to be a massive hit. After tasting success, she crooned several songs in albums that were composed by her father and brothers.

She won the National Award for the song Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu, which was filmed in Bharathi. Her father was the music director of the film.

Bhavatharini was not only a playback singer but also excelled as an actress and music composer. The late singer composed her first song for Revathy-directed Mitr, My Friend, in 2002, and then composed for Phir Milenge and a few more.

Bhavatharini's last music album was for the Malayalam film Maayanadhi.
