Indian 2 Hit Or Flop: Fans Review Kamal Haasan and Shankar's Indian 2 film, sequel to the Indian (1996) was released finally across the theatres worldwide on July 12. The movie was released in three languages and in standard and IMAX formats. Shankar joined forces with musician Anirudh Ravichander for the first time in his career for Indian 2.

The sequel film has been in the production for many years almost four to five, and went through several hurdles before hitting the screens finally. Indian 2 which stars Kamal Haasan as the 'Senapathy' also features a set of other renowned actors playing various characters.

Indian 2 Synopsis

Senapathy, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante is now in Hong Kong. He comes to know about the unprecedented and overpowered corruption that is ruling the country and decides to return to India.

The movie which began its advance bookings three days before the theatrical release, started off with a low-key buzz. Given the fact that the movie is a sequel to industry hit IN 1996, and marks the collaboration of Shankar and Kamal Haasan after 28 years, the Indian 2 movie lacked the bandwidth to connect with the fans and movie lovers, especially who are director's fans. Indian 2 Cast

This action film sequel stars Kamal Haasan as Veerasekaran Senapathy aka Indian. In addition, the movie stars S.J. Suryah, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Nedumudi Venu as Krishnaswamy IPS, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, Zakir Hussain, Piyush Mishra, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Deepa Shankar, Anant Mahadevan, George Maryan, Vinod Sagar, Akhilendra Mishra, and Benedict Garrett among others in key roles for various versions. Late Vivek, G Marimuthu, and Manobala will be part of the film as the makers wanted to leave their portions intact.

Written and directed by S Shankar, the sequel titled Indian 2 is being helmed by Subaskaran Allirajah and Udhayanidhi Stalin under their Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies banners on an approximate budget of Rs 250 Crore. Ravi Varma is cranking the camera and A. Sreekar Prasad is the film's editor. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the film's entire background score and music.
