Shankar Reveals About First Collaboration With Anirudh Ravichander: The sequel to the blockbuster film 'Indian' which was released in 1996, starring Kamal Haasan, Indian 2, is now finally a reality. Indian 2 will be hitting the screens in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi on July 12, to decent buzz and expectations from the fans, film buffs, and the lovers of the Senapathy character.

Consisting of several notable actors like Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and S.J. Suryah among others, Indian 2 has high hopes. The movie marks the first-ever collaboration between director Shankar, the extraordinary and visionary filmmaker, and musician Anirudh Ravichander.

Indian 2 has a surprising runtime of about three hours, according to the censor certificate. The movie is also going to have a sequel titled Indian 3. Recently, speaking to the public and media at Singapore's pre-release event, Kamal Haasan even mentioned that the movie's sequel is going to be more interesting and that Indian 2 should become a hit for the sake of Indian 3.

Shankar On Why Anirudh Ravichander & AR Rahman...

Speaking at a recent event in Chennai to promote the sequel Indian 2, Shankar was posed the inevitable question- why he chose Anirudh Ravichander for the film instead of AR Rahman, who composes music and score for all of his films. Shankar explained, "AR Rahman was neck-deep in the background score and sound production work for 2.0 movie. At the same time, we had to start shooting for Indian 2 because Kamal sir had already given his dates. It would have been impossible for AR Rahman sir to compose songs for Indian 2 while he was occupied with a challenging project like 2.0. In addition, I personally like Anirudh Ravichander's body of work which prompted me to go for him."

Indian 2 Synopsis
Senapathy, who was shown alive during the climax of the first part, is now in Hong Kong. He decides to return to India after learning that the country is still being overpowered by corruption and injustice.

Indian 2 Cast
This vigilante action film sequel stars Kamal Haasan as Veerasekaran Senapathy aka Indian. In addition, the movie stars S.J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Rakul Preet Singh, Siddharth, Nedumudi Venu as Krishnaswamy IPS, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, Zakir Hussain, Piyush Mishra, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Deepa Shankar, Anant Mahadevan, George Maryan, Vinod Sagar, Akhilendra Mishra, and Benedict Garrett among others in key roles for various versions. Late Vivek, G Marimuthu, and Manobala will be part of the film as the makers wanted to leave their portions intact.

Written and directed by S Shankar, the sequel titled Indian 2 is being helmed by Subaskaran Allirajah and Udhayanidhi Stalin under their Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies banners on an approximate budget of Rs 250 Crore. Ravi Varma is cranking the camera and A. Sreekar Prasad is the film's editor. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the film's entire background score and music.
