Kamal Haasan Look In Kalki 2898 AD: Nag Ashwin's upcoming release Kalki 2898 AD has been one of the most anticipated and most expensive releases of the year. The sci-fi action film has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced owing to its impressive star cast and an intriguing storyline. To note, Kalki 2898 AD features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in the lead and is the first motion picture instalment of the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, in the year 2898 AD, Kalki 2898 AD is inspired by Hindu scriptures and also marks Deepika's first collaboration with Prabhas. After creating immense buzz, the makers have finally unveiled the trailer of Kalki 2898 AD and it has the social media by a storm. To note, Prabhas plays the lead role in Bhairava while Deepika Padukone is seen as his love interest in the role of Padma. Interestingly, superstar Kamal Haasan made a short appearance in the trailer and he looked quite unrecognisable. In the trailer, Haasan was seen as an old, bald man with wrinkles on his entire face. It is reported that Kamal Haasan will be seen playing the role of Kali in Kalki 2898 AD. According to a report published in 123Telugu, Kamal Haasan will be seen in a negative role in Kalki 2898 AD which will be the modern version of Kamsudu or Kamsa who was the son of Yadava ruler Ugrasena.

Meanwhile, as Kalki 2898 AD will reportedly chronicle some events of the Mahabharata in the year of 3102 BC, Nag Ashwin in his interaction with Deadline stated that the movie "does not involve any characters actively worshipped by large numbers of Hindus". He further asserted, "We can take it as extremely religious or we can take it as the story of somebody who was born with a lot of power, didn't know what to do with it, and found his mentor in the process".
