Kanguva OTT Release: The Tamil epic fantasy action film Kanguva, directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, hit global theaters on November 14, 2024. The film stars Suriya in dual roles, alongside a talented cast including Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Natarajan Subramaniam, Kovai Sarala, and K. S. Ravikumar. It is being screened in standard, 3D, and IMAX formats.
According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the digital streaming rights for the South Indian language versions of the film. While fans may be eager to watch the movie online, the digital release will only happen after the theatrical run concludes. This strategy encourages audiences to enjoy the cinematic experience on the big screen before the film becomes available for streaming, allowing Kanguva to fully capitalize on its box office potential before its digital debut.
Kanguva Cast and Crew
Kanguva, first announced in April 2019, faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other scheduling issues before production resumed in August 2022. Shot in breathtaking locations across Chennai, Goa, Kerala, Kodaikanal, and Rajahmundry, the film completed its 17-month shoot in January 2024. With a budget ranging from ₹300 to ₹350 crore, it ranks among the most expensive Indian films ever made. The technical team includes composer Devi Sri Prasad, cinematographer Vetri Palanisamy, and editor Nishadh Yusuf.
The film stars Suriya in dual roles as Kanguva and Francis Theodore, with Bobby Deol playing the antagonist Udhiran and Disha Patani as Angelina. The supporting cast features Natarajan Subramaniam, K. S. Ravikumar, Yogi Babu as Colt 95, Redin Kingsley as Accelerator, along with Kovai Sarala, Mansoor Ali Khan, Vatsan Chakravarthy, Ravi Raghavendra, Karunas, Bose Venkat, Harish Uthaman, Anandaraj, T. M. Karthik, G. Marimuthu, Deepa Venkat, Bala Saravanan, Shaji Chen, Raj Ayyappa, Prem Kumar, Vaiyapuri, Azhagam Perumal, and B. S. Avinash. Composer Anirudh Ravichander also makes a special cameo appearance as a dancer in the song "Yolo."
Directed by Siva, Kanguva was written by Siva, Adhi Narayana, and Madhan Karky, who also penned the dialogues. Produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati under the banners of Studio Green and UV Creations, the film boasts cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, editing by the late Nishadh Yusuf, and music by Devi Sri Prasad.
