Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case: The recent crime that took place against the young Kolkata doctor has shaken the country to its core. From Bollywood to Tollywood stars, everyone has reacted to the heinous crime that happened to the PG resident doctor. Amid this, shocking Hema committee report on Malayalam cinema exposed the dark truth regarding women's sexual exploitation in the industry. Now, Thangalaan star Chiyaan Vikram has called out on the crimes against women.

Thangalaan Star Vikram Reacts To Kolkata Doctor Rape Murder Case

Chiyaan Vikram, who has been basking in the success of Thangalaan, recently talked about the Kolkata doctor rape and murder case amid the Hema Committee report on women's sexual exploitation in the Malayalam film industry. According to a PTI report, he said, "All women need to feel protected. They should be able to walk the streets at 3.00 in the morning and feel they can walk, go home, and that nobody will do anything. That every man is there to protect them, to give them their space. It's disgusting what's happening."

He also talked about how he deals with women's safety in the his film sets, "We get affected by most things that happen... I've always thought that if I was creative, would I address it more in my movies? Will I do something?"

The actor further stressed on Thangalaan's theme that talks about changing the system, lauding the movie director Pa Ranjith, he said, "It's something that I'm trying to figure out, 'What do we do? What does the nation need to do? Do we start young? Do we start inculcating these things in children?' As Pa Ranjith says, 'Change the whole system and start from scratch'. I don't know, something has to be done."

Justice Hema Commitee report states the levels of exploitations faced by the women in the Malayalam movie industry. The report, which was released on August 19, revealed the sexual harassment and gender inequality in the film industry after an actress was assaulted by actor Dileep in 2017.
