Sivakarthikeyan's Quest to Rival Thalapathy Vijay: A New Chapter in Kollywood

Sivakarthikeyan Eyes Vijay s Kollywood Crown

Sivakarthikeyan's ambition to match Thalapathy Vijay's stature by delivering grand titles like 'Don' and 'Boss' is noteworthy. However, surpassing Vijay's legacy won't be easy. Sivakarthikeyan has amassed a significant fan base with the success of 'Doctor' and 'Don', both crossing the 100 crore mark. Despite this, the competition in Kollywood remains fierce.

Recently, there was speculation about Thalapathy Vijay leaving cinema for politics, positioning Sivakarthikeyan as Kollywood's future. However, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and Ajith Kumar continue to dominate with intriguing projects. Meanwhile, Suriya, Dhanush, and Simbu are also striving to secure their positions by starring in high-budget films.

After releasing films directly on OTT platforms for years, Suriya is back in the box office race. His upcoming film 'Kanguva' is expected to compete with 'Vettaiyan' during the Ayudha Pooja festival. Director Shankar recently mentioned that 'Kanguva' and 'Coolie' are anticipated to be top-grossing films.

Dhanush's upcoming film 'Raayan', which he directed and acted in, is set for release on July 26th. Industry insiders believe 'Raayan' will earn him critical acclaim similar to 'Maaran'. Additionally, Dhanush is working on 'Kubera', directed by Sekhar Kammula, and 'Ilayaraaja', a biopic of Isaignani Ilayaraaja. His market value is expected to rise significantly, with reports suggesting he earns 50 crores per film.

Following the production of 'Pathu Thala', Kamal Haasan is producing 'STR 48', starring Simbu and directed by Desingh Periyasamy. Simbu is also leading in 'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam with Kamal Haasan. These projects are likely to boost Simbu's standing as a box office contender in Kollywood.

Despite the intense competition, Sivakarthikeyan continues his journey towards Vijay's position. He is currently involved in projects like 'SK 23' directed by Amaran, 'Boss' directed by A.R. Murugadoss, and 'Porunnanur' directed by Sudha Kongara—a film initially intended for Suriya. Nevertheless, Vijay's unique place in Tamil cinema remains unchallenged.

The growth of multiple actors into box office kings at a pan-Indian level would be beneficial for Tamil cinema. The industry thrives on such healthy competition and diverse talent.
