Raayan Audio Launch Event: Dhanush became the centre of controversy lately after one of his comments on himself went viral. During the audio launch event of his upcoming thriller, Raayan, the south star called himself 'outsider' which left the netizens in splits. While many appreciated his 'inspirational' speech, others callled out the actor for exaggerating things despite belonging from a 'filmy family'.

At the Raayan event, Dhanush spoke about buying a property at Poes Garden, which is a posh area known to have housing of Late Jayalalitha and Rajnikanth. He elaborated how he started from scratch upon garnering attention for buying property there, he said, "If I knew buying a house in Poes Garden would have become such a big topic of conversation, I would have simply got a small apartment. Should I not buy a house in Poes Garden? If I live on the street, should I stay there only?"

Recalling how he was introduced to the house Rajinikanth at the age of 16 when he was riding through the area, he said, "We were told, this is Jayalalithaa's house. I stopped the bike and looked - on one side, there is Rajini sir's house, on the other is Jayalalithaa Amma's house. I thought to myself that one day, somehow, I want to buy at least a small house in a posh locality like Poes Garden. The Poes Garden house today is a gift to the 16-year-old Venkatesh Prabhu (his birth name)."

After his comment went viral, many applauded the actor while others slammed him at the same time for exaggerating things. Stop assuming just cause he's some famous guy's kid, maybe his dad laid a condition on him that he had to work and become something and can't stay on his dad's money, also stop with this nepotism what matters is that his hard work got him."
