Sivakarthikeyan On His Personal Connection With His Role In Film Ahead Of Diwali 2024 Release
Sivakarthikeyan shares personal ties to his role in 'Amaran', a film set for Diwali release. The story reflects on duty, loss, and resilience.

As Diwali approaches, the excitement builds for the premiere of "Amaran," starring the dynamic duo of Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi. This film, which weaves together emotion and action, is poised to enchant viewers during the festive season. Sivakarthikeyan, in a recent interview, opened up about the profound personal ties he feels towards his character in the film, Major Mukund Varadarajan, shedding light on the emotional depth behind his involvement.
Sivakarthikeyan's connection to the role is deeply rooted in his family history, particularly his father's service in the police force. Growing up with a father in uniform instilled in him a sense of duty and valor that resonated with the character of Major Mukund Varadarajan. "Another reason I took up this project is that I grew up seeing my dad in uniform. He was a cop. The color of the uniform might be different, but the responsibilities are almost the same," he remarked during an interview, highlighting the parallel between his father's role and that of his character.
Reflecting further on his father's influence, Sivakarthikeyan noted similarities between his father and Major Varadarajan, which drew him closer to the role. "When I first heard the story, I noticed many similarities between my father and Mukund Sir. I can't reveal too many details right now, but yes, this was a big reason for me to be part of this project," he shared. This connection made the film project particularly poignant for the actor.
In a heart-wrenching detail, Sivakarthikeyan revealed the loss of his father while on duty, a tragedy not from combat but from the pressures of the job. Meeting Indhu Rebecca Varghese, Major Mukund Varadarajan's wife, brought back memories of his own family's experience with loss. "When I saw Indhu for the first time with her daughter, I was reminded of my mother and sister. My father also died while on duty—not in a war, but due to job-related pressure. Losing a loved one is the hardest thing to deal with, but seeing Indhu Rebecca Varghese stand strong despite the tragedy brought hope to us all. I can't wait to show this film to my mother and sister," he stated, capturing the shared grief and resilience that binds families of servicemen.
"Amaran," set for a grand Diwali release, comes from a collaboration of producers including Kamal Haasan, R. Mahendran, and Sony Pictures International Productions. Under the direction of Rajkumar Periasamy, with Sai Pallavi portraying Indu Varghese, the film promises a rich narrative full of emotional depth and compelling storytelling. Sivakarthikeyan's personal backstory adds an extra layer of authenticity and emotion to the film, promising a cinematic experience that resonates on multiple levels.
