Uma Ramanan Funeral: In a heartbreaking news from the Tamil music industry, renowned playback singer Uma Ramanan is no more with us. The legendary singer breathed her last on May 1(Wednesday). She was 72. The news of Uma Ramanan's sudden demise has sent down a wave of shock and grief across the industry. She is survived by her husband singer AV Ramanan and her son, Vignesh Ramanan

According to media reports, Uma passed away due to health issues. However, the exact reason is yet to be revealed. To note, Uma Ramanan has been a part of the Tamil music industry for three decades. In fact, she got her first break in Ilaiyaraaja's musical in Nizhalgal in 1980 with Poongathave Thaal Thiravaai, Uma was a part of almost all of the director's compositions and gave hits like 'Aananda Raagam' from Panneer Pushpangal (1981), 'Ponn Maane' from Oru Kaidhiyin Diary (1985) and 'Aagaya Vennilaave' from Arangetra Velai (1990) etc.

As Uma Ramanan passed away on Wednesday, her funeral is likely to take place today. However, the exact timings haven't been disclosed as of now.

To note, Uma, in her career of 35 years, has performed in over 6000 concerts. Apart from Ilaiyaraaja, she also sang songs for composers, Vidyasagar, Mani Sharma and Deva. Her last song came in 2005 as Kannum Kannumthan Kalandaachu for Vijay's Thirupaachi
