Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 1 (Early Updates): Rajinikanth's fans can't stop grinning from ear to ear today and rightfully so. After all, the megastar has come with his first release of the year and he has managed to leave the audience spellbound as expected. We are talking about Vettaiyan which is an action drama helmed by T. J. Gnanavel. The movie, which also features Amitabh Bachchan in the lead, has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year for several reasons.

To begin with, Vettaiyan marks Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan's reunion after over three decades. They were last seen in the 1991 release Hum. Besides, the action drama also marks Amitabh Bachchan's debut in the Tamil industry. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Vettaiyan has managed to rake in Rs 19.22 crores as of now (at 7:20PM). While the collections from from the evening and night shows are yet to come, it will be interesting to see if Vettaiyan can cross Rs 50 crores mark on the opening day.

Interestingly, in an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat, producer and film business expert Girish Johar stated that Vettaiyan is expected to touch Rs 80 crores at the worldwide box office. However, the official worldwide box office numbers are yet to be out.

Meanwhile, Vettaiyan is facing frequent comparisons with Rajinikanth's 2023 release Jailer and Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). For the uninitiated, Jailer made an opening day collection of Rs 48.35 crores while The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) raked in Rs 44 crores on its opening day. It is worth a watch if Vettaiyan can surpass both Jailer and GOAT on the opening day.
