Irfan Gets Notice Over Gender Reveal Video: The Tamil Nadu state health department has reportedly issued a notice to popular YouTuber Mohammed Irfan on Tuesday, seeking clarification regarding a pre-birth gender reveal video he had posted on his channel. Sources indicate that the department is poised to take further action against Irfan, pending his response to the notice.

Irfan, accompanied by his wife Aaliya, had recently travelled to Dubai to undergo a sex determination test. Two weeks prior, Irfan announced Aaliya's pregnancy. Subsequently, he uploaded a video titled "Boy or Girl Baby? Gender Test" on his 'Irfan's View' channel, showcasing Aaliya undergoing the prenatal sex test at a Dubai hospital-where such procedures are legal, unlike in India.

On Monday, Irfan shared footage from a 'gender reveal party' attended by family and friends, where the couple disclosed they were expecting a girl. This video has since been made private and is no longer accessible on his channel. While many of Irfan's followers celebrated the announcement, there was a significant portion of viewers who raised concerns. In response, the Department of Health and Family Welfare reportedly sent a notice to Irfan, seeking clarification regarding the pre-birth sex determination test.

It is crucial to note that the Indian government enacted the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act in 1994, which criminalises prenatal sex determination and female genital mutilation. Violating this legislation constitutes a serious legal offence in India.

Challenges in Irfan's Public Image

Mohammed Irfan gained widespread popularity through his Tamil food review videos on YouTube. However, his public image has faced challenges. Notably, in May of the previous year, Irfan's SUV was involved in a tragic incident where it struck and killed a 52-year-old woman crossing GST Road. A case was filed against Irfan's driver, who was operating the vehicle at an excessive speed at the time of the incident.
