Aghathiyaa X Review: The Tamil period horror thriller Aghathiyaa finally arrived in theaters on February 28, 2025. Written and directed by Pa. Vijay, the film stars Jiiva, Arjun Sarja, and Raashii Khanna in lead roles, with Edward Sonnenblick, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, and others in supporting roles.

Produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Film International and co-produced by Aneesh Arjun Dev, Aghathiyaa features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Deepak Kumar Padhy, and editing by San Lokesh. The film follows Jiiva and Raashii Khanna's characters as they delve into a long-buried mystery within a haunted house.

Initially announced in 2020, the project was shelved before being revived by Vels Film International in 2023. Now, after four years, Aghathiyaa has finally arrived in theaters.

Aghathiyaa Storyline

Desperate to fund his mother's cancer treatment, struggling art director Aghathiyan stumbles upon an old movie camera that unexpectedly transports him and his fiancée, Veena, to the 1940s. As they navigate the past, they unknowingly awaken buried secrets and find themselves haunted by the wrath of a vengeful ghost-French Governor Dy, the former ruler of Pondicherry.

Aghathiyaa Cast and Crew

Aghathiyaa boasts a stellar ensemble cast, with Jiiva portraying Aghathiyan, a struggling art director, alongside Arjun Sarja as Siddharthan and Raashii Khanna as Veena, Aghathiyan's girlfriend (voiced by Smruthi K). The film also features Edward Sonnenblick, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, and Rohini as Aghathiyan's mother, while Charle plays his father. Veteran actors Radha Ravi, VTV Ganesh, Azhagam Perumal, Matylda, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Indraja Shankar take on key roles.

Produced by Ishari K. Ganesh and Aneesh Arjun Dev under Vels Film International and WAMINDIA, Aghathiyaa is written and directed by Pa. Vijay. The film's technical crew includes Yuvan Shankar Raja for music, Dipak Kumar Padhy for cinematography, and San Lokesh for editing. P. Shanmugam serves as the art director, with choreography by Kalaimaamani Sridhar. Costume design is by Pallavi Singh and Tina Rosario, DI is handled by iGene, and sound mixing is done by Tapas Nayak. Pa. Vijay also contributes as the lyricist.
