Ajith Kumar's AK64 Update: Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar's latest release, Vidaamuyarchi, an action thriller directed by Magizh Thirumeni, is currently running in theaters. Inspired by the 1997 American movie Breakdown, the film has garnered mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike while continuing its theatrical run. Produced by Lyca Productions, Vidaamuyarchi features an ensemble cast, including Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, Arav, and Ramya Subramanian. The story, set in Azerbaijan, follows Ajith's character as he embarks on a perilous mission to rescue his kidnapped wife.
Even as Vidaamuyarchi continues its theatrical run, Ajith fans have already set their sights on his next big project, Good Bad Ugly. The upcoming action-comedy, helmed by director Adhik Ravichandran, is scheduled to release on April 10, 2025. Produced jointly by Mythri Movie Makers and T-Series Films, the film boasts an impressive cast, including Trisha Krishnan, Prabhu, Prasanna, Arjun Das, Sunil, Rahul Dev, Yogi Babu, and Shine Tom Chacko.
AK64: A Quick Project On The Horizon?
While anticipation grows for Good Bad Ugly, A new buzz about Ajith Kumar's 64th film, tentatively titled AK64, has emerged. Earlier reports suggested that producer K.E. Gnanavel Raja was in discussions to bankroll the project, with director Siva expected to reunite with Ajith once again. The duo, known for delivering blockbuster hits like Veeram (2014), Vedalam (2015), Vivegam (2017), and Viswasam (2019), had sparked speculation about another action-packed entertainer.
However, in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), industry tracker Kolly Corner stated that AK64 is shaping up to be a quick project, with shooting anticipated to commence in October 2025. The post read: "Ajith Kumar's AK64 seems to be a quickie project & shooting is expected to start in October 2025. You know who is best at making quick projects (sic)."
Following this post, netizens have begun speculating that AK64 might not be helmed by Siva but rather by acclaimed director Karthik Subbaraj. Known for his fast-paced filmmaking process, Karthik Subbaraj has delivered notable films like Jigarthanda (2014), Petta (2019), and Mahaan (2022). If the rumors hold true, Ajith's next film could mark a fresh collaboration that blends high-octane action with Karthik Subbaraj's signature cinematic style.
With multiple projects lined up, Ajith Kumar remains one of the most sought-after stars in Tamil cinema. Fans eagerly await official confirmation on AK64, hoping for yet another memorable cinematic experience from the superstar.
