AR Rahman and I Are Still Husband And Wife, Says Saira Banu: Renowned composer AR Rahman was briefly hospitalized in Chennai on Sunday due to dehydration but has since been discharged, according to reports. The 58-year-old musician, celebrated for his work in films such as Roja, Rangeela, Indian, Dil Se.., and Slumdog Millionaire, was admitted to a corporate hospital in the early hours of the day. According to a report by PTI, his manager, Senthil Velan, confirmed that Rahman had returned home and was in good health after undergoing routine tests.
Speculation initially arose regarding the severity of Rahman's condition, with some reports suggesting he was admitted due to chest pain. However, his sister, AR Reihana, clarified that Rahman had only experienced dehydration and gastric issues. According to a report by PTI, she dismissed any concerns over a serious health issue.
As news of Rahman's hospitalization spread, his wife, Saira Banu, issued a statement clarifying their relationship status and sending well wishes to her husband. Saira, who announced her separation from Rahman in November after 29 years of marriage, emphasized that they had not legally divorced and remained husband and wife.
"I wish him a speedy recovery. I would like to clarify that we haven't divorced officially, and we are still husband and wife. We have separated because my health hasn't been good for the past two years, and I don't want to give him any stress. Therefore, I urge the media to not call me his ex-wife. Though we have separated, I am always praying for him," Saira said, as per the PTI report.
AR Rahman Recovering Well as Family and Fans Send Wishes
Rahman's son, AR Ameen, also took to social media to reassure fans about his father's health. Sharing a medical bulletin from Apollo Hospitals, he stated that his father was recovering well and thanked fans for their love and support. His sisters, Khatija and Raheema Rahman, echoed the same message through their social media accounts.
Fans across social media platforms poured in their well-wishes for Rahman's speedy recovery. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin also enquired about Rahman's condition, confirming via social media that the musician was stable and expected to return to normal activities soon.
Despite this brief health setback, Rahman continues to be engaged in multiple upcoming projects, including Lahore 1947, Thug Life, and Tere Ishq Mein. The musician's global fanbase remains hopeful for his swift recovery and return to the studio.
