As per Letterboxd, Coolie is based on the story of an "aging smuggler" who uses some tech to revive with his old mafia crew. As per the outlet the synopsis of the movie reads, "An aging gold smuggler uses stolen tech hidden in vintage golden watches to revive his old mafia crew. But his plan to reclaim his empire spirals into something bigger, a new universe forged from crime, greed, and broken time (sic)." However, this synopsis has not confirmed by any official. So, let us further wait for the official announcement, teaser or trailer to release to know whether its true.

Coolie: Did Lokesh Kanagaraj Charge 50 Cr For The Movie?

Coolie is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. And, as per several reports Lokesh charged a whopping amount of 50 crores for the movie. Is this true? Lokesh addressed the rumors in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He said, "You might ask me about my Rs. 50 crore remuneration, but it stems from the fact that my last film, Leo, did very well at the box office." He added that his movie Leo made 600 crores at the box office. And his doubled salary is the result of the same. Lokesh said, "My compensation was naturally doubled as a result. I am putting in a lot of effort to earn every penny in this supply and demand field."

Lokesh confirmed to the outlet that the trailer of his upcoming film Coolie will be released on August 2, 2025.
