Coolie Overseas Theatrical Distribution: As the release date of Coolie draws closer, the makers have confirmed that Hamsini Entertainment will handle the film's overseas theatrical distribution. The Tamil-language action thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and led by Rajinikanth, is set for a global release on August 14, 2025, in both standard and IMAX formats.

The news of the distribution rights was shared by both Sun Pictures and Hamsini Entertainment through their official social media handles. While exact figures have not been disclosed by the production house or distributor, Asianet News reported that unofficial reports suggest the overseas rights were sold for around ₹90 crore - a figure that, if accurate, would place Coolie among the highest-valued Tamil films in terms of international distribution.

Rajinikanth's 171st film set for global release in August

Coolie brings together a sizable ensemble cast featuring Rajinikanth as Deva, Nagarjuna as Simon, Upendra as Kaleesha, Soubin Shahir as Dayal, Sathyaraj as Rajasekar, and Shruti Haasan as Preethi. Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat also appear, while Pooja Hegde and Aamir Khan are reported to have cameo roles.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film was initially announced in September 2023 under the working title Thalaivar 171, marking Rajinikanth's 171st film as a lead actor. The official title, Coolie, was unveiled in April 2024. Filming began in July 2024 and was carried out across Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and Bangkok. Principal photography concluded by March 2025.

The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who continues his collaborations with both Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj. The first single, "Chikitu," was released on June 25, 2025. Earlier glimpses, such as "Chikitu Vibe" and "Powerhouse Vibe," were shared through teasers. The April teaser trailer prominently featured "Coolie Disco," a track that includes a sample from the 1983 film Thanga Magan.

Meanwhile, speculation continues regarding the film's audio launch. According to a recent post by industry tracker Christopher Kanagaraj on X (formerly Twitter), there is buzz that the event may take place on July 27 at Chennai's Nehru Stadium. However, there has been no official word on the date or venue from the makers so far.

With its high-profile cast, wide-scale production, and now a major overseas distributor in place, Coolie remains one of the most closely watched Tamil releases of 2025.
