Coolie Trailer First Review: The trailer of Coolie, the upcoming Tamil action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and headlined by superstar Rajinikanth, has already started making waves online, days before its official release on August 2, 2025. While the trailer is yet to be officially released, early reactions from industry insiders are beginning to surface.

Film reviewer and tracker Umair Sandhu shared his first impression of the trailer on X (formerly Twitter), calling it "bombastic" and stating that "Rajinikanth is back with a bang." While his comment offers little detail, it has nonetheless added to the anticipation surrounding the film, especially among Rajinikanth's fanbase.

Coolie Set for August Release, Trailer Launch Around the Corner

The cast of Coolie includes a wide range of actors, with leading roles played by Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. Supporting performances come from Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat. The film also features special appearances by Pooja Hegde, who stars in the song "Monica," and Aamir Khan, who plays a character named Dahaa.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film marks Rajinikanth's 171st appearance in a lead role. The production officially kicked off in September 2023 under the working title Thalaivar 171, with the final title being revealed in April 2024. Principal photography began in July 2024 and reportedly spanned multiple locations, including Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and Bangkok. Shooting concluded in March 2025.

Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj. The trailer will be unveiled at the audio launch event, which is scheduled to take place at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai on August 2.

Released on April 22, 2024, the title teaser included several nods to Rajinikanth's earlier films.
