Coolie Update: A fresh wave of anticipation is sweeping across fans of Rajinikanth and Tamil cinema as Sun Pictures has announced a significant update related to Coolie, the much-awaited film starring superstar Rajinikanth. The production house took to social media earlier today with a teaser message: "Sound ah Yethu 📣🔊 6⃣ PM today ⏳," confirming that a new reveal from the film will be made at 6 PM.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Coolie is positioned as an action thriller and marks Rajinikanth's 171st film as the lead. The film features an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Reba Monica John, among others. Cameo appearances by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde have also been confirmed, adding to the star power surrounding the project.

Rajinikanth's Coolie Gears Up For August 14 Release With Major Update Incoming

The film's official title, Coolie, was revealed in April 2024 after initially being referred to as Thalaivar 171. Principal photography began in July 2024 and wrapped up by mid-March 2025. Filming took place across several locations, including Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and Bangkok.

Coolie will feature Rajinikanth in the role of Deva, with Nagarjuna playing Simon and Upendra taking on the role of Kaleesha. The film's technical team includes music composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, and editor Philomin Raj.

The movie is slated for a grand worldwide theatrical release on 14 August 2025, just ahead of Independence Day, and will be available in standard and IMAX formats. It will also be released in dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
