Jaseel Muhammed took to social media to inform his followers that Coolie received the biggest ever opening weekend for a Tamil film. It broke the record previously held by Leo.

Bollywood Box Office's X handle also confirmed that Coolie registered the biggest opening weekend ever for a Tamil film. The tweet read, "Thalaivar rewrites history yet again. #Coolie records the ALL-TIME BIGGEST Opening Weekend worldwide in Kollywood history, beating #Leo - that too with mixed WOM (sic)."

Coolie, which has been directed by Lokesh Kanagraj, hit the silver screens on August 14. The movie locked horns with War 2 at the box office during the Independence Day 2025 week. While Coolie raced ahead in the international and national markets, War 2 is slowly trying to catch up with the Rajinikanth-starrer.
