D54 Update: Fresh Development In Dhanush's Film With Por Thozhil Director Vignesh Raja Amid High Expectations

D54 Update: Dhanush's 54th project as a lead actor, tentatively titled D54, has officially gone on floors, as announced by the makers on social media. Directed by Por Thozhil filmmaker Vignesh Raja, the film's launch was marked with a first-look poster featuring Dhanush standing in a charred cotton field, flames rising in the background. The poster also carries the tagline: "Sometimes staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive."

The production house, Vels Film International, shared the update on social media with the message: "#D54 starring @dhanushkraja - On floors from today." The film is produced by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner, in association with Think Studios.

D54 marks a collaboration between Vignesh Raja and screenwriter Alfred Prakash, who previously co-wrote the critically acclaimed Por Thozhil. The film's technical crew includes GV Prakash Kumar as the composer, Theni Eswar ISC as the cinematographer, and Sreejith Saaran as the editor. Art direction is handled by Mayapandi.

While the makers have not yet confirmed the full cast lineup, industry sources suggest that Premalu star Mamitha Baiju will play the female lead. Other notable names reportedly part of the ensemble include Jayaram, KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, and Prithvi Pandiraj.

Dhanush's Recent And Upcoming Projects

The start of D54 comes shortly after Dhanush wrapped filming for Tere Ishk Mein, his Hindi-language project directed by Shankar Gurrukkal. He was last seen in the bilingual crime drama Kuberaa, which was released in June 2025 and performed well at the box office. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa starred Dhanush alongside Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh.

Meanwhile, Dhanush also has Idly Kadai lined up for release. Slated to hit theaters on October 1, 2025, the film is written and directed by Dhanush himself. It features a diverse cast including Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Sathyaraj, Parthiban, and Rajkiran.

With production now underway on D54, more updates regarding the film's title, storyline, and release timeline are expected in the coming weeks.
